Kevin Gates Sentenced to Six Months in Prison
For kicking a woman in the chest during a concert last year.
[gallery columns="3"]On Wednesday, rapper Kevin Gates was sentenced to six months in jail. A jury found him guilty of misdemeanor battery stemming from an incident taking place in August of last year. The rapper was filmed kicking a woman in the chest during his concert in Lakeland, Florida. He insisted that the victim, Miranda Dixon, was attempting to pull him off stage by grabbing and tugging on his shorts on two occasions. Because Dixon would not listen to Gate’s verbal warnings, Gates claims, the rapper used physical force to ensure his safety. Gates claimed he was innocent because he was defending himself under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law. The court ultimately found Gates guilty and tripled his original 60 day sentence the state reportedly requested. Learn more about it here.
