After studies in interactive design and projects involving sound-reactive video performance programs, Italian-born, Barcelona-raised producer Giovanni Civitenga, also known as My Dry Wet Mess, embarks on a promising quest within the music sphere. His sound encompasses influences from London’s post-dubstep world and L.A.’s Low End Theory. In order to make you listen he has now created an impressive remix of Flying Lotus “PieFace” off his Pattern + Grid World-EP. Here is a little scoop on his approach.
On the original version, Lotus ostensibly channeled the tension preceding a banana cream pie smacking a clown’s face (at a circus selling cannabis instead of cotton candy). On this version, My Dry Wet Mess does what every good remix should: select a different flavor altogether. So, consider this an empanada de manzana, light, airy and easily consumed.
Flying Lotus’ Pattern + Grid World-EP is out now.
