High-res snapshots of classic works from their vast collection.
Following in The Met’s footsteps, the Art Institute of Chicago is now enabling free high-res downloads of images portraying iconic artworks from their vast collection. A total of 53,438 photos encapsulate the online launch, from Vincent Van Gogh’s The Bedroom (1888) to Piet Mondrian’s Lozenge Composition with Yellow, Black, Blue, Red, and Gray (1921). All of these images have been made available under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license that displays the works without any copyright. According to Colossal, the institute will continue to add more images in the near future.
