SOFTlab Created a Mesmerizing, Interactive Mirror Installation for Panorama Music Festival 2017
Dubbed ‘Volume.’
Hewlett-Packard (HP) recently commissioned SOFTlab to produce an immersive experience for this year’s Panorama Festival. The NYC-based design studio created a stunning installation called Volume that consisted of 100 mirrored panels with built-in LED lights that responded to visitors’ movements. Additionally, a set of cameras affixed to the ceiling monitored people as they walked around the installation.
More precisely, “using a weighted average of the various people being tracked, the mirrors rotate to face the nearest person. Individually addressable LED’s along the sides of the mirrored panels respond to the ambient sound in the space around the installation,” designboom reports.
