Author Michael Mauboussin’s book The Success Equation takes a look at the statistical analysis of luck vs skill in the sporting world. Using the skill-luck continuum demonstrated by sports data analysts, Mauboussin found that season standings for the NBA reflected more skill levels than the seasons of other major team sports such as the NHL, which is the closest to the luck continuum.
