Kendrick Lamar Just Earned His First #1 Single as a Lead Artist
A huge accomplishment for the TDE star.

Along with scoring the strongest debut and sales week of 2017, Kendrick Lamar has also earned his very first no. 1 record as a lead solo artist. As Billboard reveals, Lamar’s lead DAMN. single “HUMBLE.” has usurped Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” to take the top spot on the prestigious Hot 100 chart. “HUMBLE.” is also holding onto the no. 1 ranking on the Streaming Songs, On-Demand Streaming Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts — Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” is the only track to ever earn a “greater weekly total” on the Streaming Songs chart, giving “HUMBLE.” a shot at breaking an all-time record. Kendrick Lamar is also the first recording artist since the Chainsmokers to hold two records in the Hot 100’s top five at the same time.
Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.” was already his most successful single as a lead solo artist, having previously earned the TDE rapper recognition for scoring the “highest-charting debut for a rap single since Eminem’s ‘Love the Way You Lie.’”
