A pumpkin sculpture from Yayoi Kusama‘s recently opened “Infinity Mirrors” exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum was reportedly smashed by a museumgoer taking a selfie. The visitor apparently tripped and fell during their time viewing the Japanese artist’s Infinity Mirrored Room – All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins piece, damaging one of more than 60 pumpkins. It does not appear that any charges will be filed against the museumgoer, but the art piece was closed to the public following the incident. Infinity Mirrored Room – All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins has now been reopened to the public with an increased security presence and Kusama has arranged a replacement pumpkin to arrive in the next few weeks.
