Comme Je Suis's Latest Lookbook Defies Generational Style
A collection that “has no connection to age.”
Despite being only in his late teens, Japanese design prodigy Ikutani Land’s label Comme Je Suis (“As I Am”) has an impressively distinctive take on modern streetwear for his 2017 fall/winter collection. Land rejects typical youth trends, instead working in styles more traditionally associated with older generations to create an aesthetic that he says “has no connection to age.” His use of traditional cuts and silhouettes, combined with more vibrant prints and colors create a sense of ambiguity as to whom exactly the collection is for which, it seems, is the intention.
