Watch Aziz Ansari's Hilarious Acceptance Speech at the Britannia Awards
Some lighthearted BAFTA bashing.
This past weekend saw the Britannia Awards take place in Los Angeles. The award ceremony that began back in 1989, acts as the BAFTA’s “bridge between the Hollywood and British production and entertainment businesses” — a connection that Ansari mocked in his brilliant acceptance speech. The Master of None star, having won the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy, began by pointing out that he had to fly all the way from London to L.A. to receive a “f*ck*ng British Award.” He continued to complain about the fact that you “can’t accept them from home,” the terrible food at award shows and watching your own tribute reels. Of course, Ansari ended by saying he was only joking, but nonetheless, the speech left his audience of fellow actors in stitches. You can watch Ansari’s entire three-minute speech in the video above.
