A Margiela Retrospective Will Take Place at the Palais Galliera in 2018
An appreciation for the enigmatic designer’s works.

It’s just been announced that a comprehensive Margiela retrospective will happen at France’s Palais Galliera in March of 2018. The news was revealed by a spokeswoman from the Paris museum, but not much information has been given. What’s known however, is that Martin Margiela has actually been working with museum director, Olivier Saillard on the exhibition as reported by WWD.
A good part of the industry knows how enigmatic the Belgian designer is, as very few photos of him out there exists. He left the label after showing his 2007 collection and John Galliano is currently creative director at the newly-envisioned brand. Additionally, Kanye West has been posting up archived images of Margiela pieces on his Instagram, hinting that he could be channeling the famed designer for his future collections.
For those wanting to catch some of Martin Margiela’s works from his days at Hermès, you can check out the “Margiela: The Hermès Years” exhibition at the MoMu fashion museum in Antwerp. The show highlights Margiela’s creations for the Parisian luxury house from 1997 to 2003. The exhibit will run from March 31 all the way through August 27 in 2017. Stay tuned as more is revealed for the Palais Galliera retrospective.
