An Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow Full-Length Film Is in the Works
Exploring their tumultuous relationship.
A new drama is being made about the late British fashion designer Alexander McQueen and his muse and patron, the famously eccentric fashion editor, Isabella Blow. Produced by Maven Pictures, The Ripper will explore the life of McQueen, which was shrouded in intrigue and spectacle, as well as the pair’s tumultuous relationship. Tensions grew between the pair when his label was bought by the Gucci Group (now Kering) in 2001, and Blow fell by the wayside. Tragic like McQueen, Blow’s life ended abruptly in suicide in 2007 (McQueen in 2010). Till this day, the duo remains among the most prolific and intriguing collaborators in fashion history. The topic of the pair has already been explored in the 2011 BBC documentary McQueen and I. However, The Ripper is not the only film about McQueen in the works, 45 Years director Andrew Haigh is creating a biopic, though no more details about the project have been revealed since the initial announcement in January.
