Second/Layer's 2017 Spring/Summer Collection Is All About "Dominican Playboy Swag"
A strong showing of easily layered, gender-neutral pieces.

Los Angeles-based fashion label Second/Layer put on a strong showing for NYFWM, debuting a spring/summer collection that was meant to embody “Dominican playboy swag,” according to designers Joshua Willis and Anthony Franco. The gender-neutral collection featured a range of garments that combined formal elements with breezy casual attire: forest green blazers are paired with wide-legged, drawstring-waisted trousers; steel overcoats with billowy, pajama-like pants; black motos and suede blousons are layered over statement pieces that read “Dream baby dream,” as well as raw-hemmed cropped patchwork denim. The designers also experimented with using sweatshirts as skirt-ish bottoms on models.
