Aitor Throup Returns to LCM With Life-Size Puppets
The three year wait was well worth it.

After a three-year hiatus from the various fashion weeks, Aitor Throup return to London Collections Men with a presentation that he called a self portrait and “trans-seasonal prototypes.” The show — dubbed “The Rite of Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter” — featured puppeteers parading a life-size steel puppet around the stage wearing Throup’s latest conceptual collection, including a lightly padded nylon jacket, a papery parka, a dip-dyed hoodie, skinny combat pants, and more.
“I knew I wasn’t interested in fashion, I knew I wasn’t interested in seasons,” Throup said after the show. “I was interested in product design, product development and I knew I was good at telling stories. So I worked on being a storyteller.”
Throup went on to note that the one-off pieces —- complete with the puppets — will be sold as art pieces at Dover Street Market London, from June 14 to July 6, while a commercial collection based on the designs above will launch in January 2017.
