Samuel L. Jackson & John Cusack Fight Zombies in the Adaptation of Stephen King's 'Cell'
Can the Jackson x Cusack x King combo live up to the acclaimed ‘1408’?
Back in 2007, Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack teamed up for the big screen adaptation to Stephen King’s 1999 short story 1408. Now, nearly a decade later, the two actors are back to take on yet another King piece: the 2006 apocalyptic horror novel novel Cell. Starring Cusack as a New England artist by the name of Clay Riddell and directed by Paranormal Activity 2‘s Tod Williams, the film follows Riddell as he struggles to reunite with his young son, Johnny, after a mysterious signal (simply dubbed “The Pulse”) is broadcast over a global cell network — transforming most of mankind into vicious, mindless zombies in the process. Riddell ultimately links up with the likes of Tom McCourt (Jackson) as the two fend off the hoard and set out to find Johnny and stop the person behind “The Pulse” before it’s too late.
A technophobic nod to our cellular obsession and interconnectedness, Cell will hit theaters July 8.
