The Nintendo World Theme Park Receives an Opening Date
More gaming fantasies become a reality.

Last month we were given a teaser featuring Nintendo icon Shigeru Miyamoto and Universal Creative President Mark Woodbury on the upcoming Nintendo additions to Universal Studios. With details being quite scant so far, we now have a confirmed target date for the opening of the park. Titled ‘Super Nintendo World,’ the collaboration with Universal Parks & Resorts will aim to open in Osaka, Japan in 2020 just in time for the Summer Olympics being hosted in Tokyo.
For all you Nintendo fans, the parks will feature “globally renowned characters and game worlds from Nintendo” and will be “comprised of expansive and multilevel environments filled with unprecedented, state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants.” At an estimated ¥50 billion JPY (around $433 million USD) developmental cost, the Nintendo-themed park is already planning for expansions in Hollywood and Orlando.
