The MA-1 flight jacket originator Alpha Industries infuses some Japanese culture into its latest Fall/Winter 2016 lookbook. The new collection sees Eastern influence by way of the classic sukajan. Towards the end of World War II, American soldiers and pilots brought souvenirs from their time abroad — one of the popular examples being the American base in Yokosuka — usually modifying their government-issued garments with local details such as Japanese embroidery and popular eastern motifs such as dragons and tigers.
The Alpha Industries Fall/Winter 2016 lookbook highlights the label’s unisex sukajan jackets, such as the yellow Injector Jacket, the MA-1 Shinto jackets with Japanese embroidery and the Flex Slim Flight jacket, in a red lantern-lit setting.
