Andreas Melbostad is a strong and stable designer for Diesel Black Gold — Diesel’s luxury ready-to-wear line. The upscale brand strays away from the casual and decidedly less serious Diesel line. Melbostad’s design acumen offers a streamlined finesse to the apparel he creates, a certain European touch that strongly alludes to his Norwegian past. This season, he was inspired by bike messengers, an integral part of New York City where he now resides.
The rebellious and independent messengers resulted in a collection that is utilitarian and practical, but with dramatic proportions and silhouettes.
