The iconic ’70s racer returns to the track.
Since its inception, Porsche Cars North America’s annual Rennsport Reunion has been the most extraordinary gathering of both vintage and current Porsche racers in the world. The highlight of this year’s reunion? An appearance by the iconic Porsche 917. Powered by the German automotive giant’s own Type 912 flat-12 engine, the design is arguably one of the most noteworthy racers of all time, having delivered Porsche its first overall wins at the infamous 24 Hours of Le Mans in both 1970 and 1971 and made a star turn in Steve McQueen’s 1971 classic Le Mans.
