Apple Unveils the iPad mini 4
The fourth-generation iPad Mini sees Apple’s smallest tablet get a bevy of upgrades.
Unveiled today alongside the show-stealing iPad Pro — along with its Pencil and Smart Keyboard — was a much-needed update to the iPad mini. Thinner and lighter than ever before — just 6.1 mm thick and 0.65 pounds, to be exact — the iPad mini 4 now packs an A8 chip with second-generation 64-bit desktop-class architecture, meaning its CPU is 30% faster while running graphics 60% faster than its predecessor. The tablet’s cameras have also been updated: the iSight now comes with 8 megapixels and a native resolution of 3264 x 2448 while the front-facing FaceTime HD camera includes a wider f/2.2 aperture (that lets in 81% more light) and features a 1.2MP sensor with 720p HD video.
The Apple iPad mini 4 can be purchased now via Apple’s web store in silver, gold and “Space Grey” with prices starting at $399 USD for the 16GB with WiFi while the 128GB model with both WiFi and cellular connectivity will run you $729 USD.
