'Concussion' Official Trailer Starring Will Smith
Will Smith takes on the NFL as forensic neuropathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu.
It’s no secret that concussions and discussions of player safety have been a major headache for the NFL in recent years, and it’s only going to get worse for Roger Goodell and co. as Will Smith stars in director Peter Landesman’s Concussion later this year. Written by Landesman and based on the 2009 GQ article “Game Brain” by Jeanne Marie Laskas, Concussion tells the true David vs. Goliath story of American immigrant Dr. Bennet Omalu, the forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE — football-related brain trauma — in two former professional football players, both of whom later took their own lives because of the degenerative disease. Starring Smith as Omalu – featuring a cast that includes Albert Brooks, Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Paul Reiser and Luke Wilson – and shining a light on the NFL’s attempts to deny the links between football and CTE, Concussion is due out Christmas Day.
