Stephen "ESPO" Powers Installs Striking, Hand-Painted Signs Across New York City
Bold and powerful.
Known for his vibrant, oft comical works, Stephen “ESPO” Powers recently joined forces with New York City’s Summer Streets campaign, to install a series of hand-painted street signs across the city’s bustling streets. An annual celebration of the city’s most valuable public spaces, “nearly seven miles of NYC’s streets are opened up for people to play, walk and bike,” during three consecutive Saturdays in August, where residents are encouraged to make their way through not only the main walkways but also to explore the many interior alleyways and avenues. According to the event’s official press release, “These signs speak to Summer Streets participants about love and life for a brief moment.” View a selection of them above and head over to Mashkulture for the full series.
