Boy Trips and Punches a Hole Through a $1.5 Million USD Painting
A hilariously unfortunate event.
Everyone’s worst fear in a museum happened to this young 12-year-old boy in Taiwan when he tripped and happened to punch a hole through a $1.5 million USD painting on the wall. A reaction to tripping, the boy unfortunately used the middle of the canvas to catch his footing. The painting in question is a 350-year-old Paolo Porpora oil painting which is a part of Taipei’s “Face of Leonardo: Images of a Genius” exhibition. Thankfully, the boy and his family will not be asked to foot the bill as it’s clearly an accident. Fortunately, the painting is part of a private collection and is insured. However, it is uncertain how the painting can be fixed, if at all. According to a post on the exhibition’s Facebook page, “Once these works are damaged, they are permanently damaged.”
