Beatsmiths Sledgren and Cardo are probably best known for the quality productions they’ve given to rappers such as Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y, who in turn have turned the instrumentals into their own hits, anthems and fan-favorites. Sledgren is even working with the latter rapper on a collaborative project entitled Revolver. Now, Cardo and Sledgren have teamed up for a collaborative instrumental effort of their own dubbed “1996.” The sound of “1996” is a mix of more modern, trap-indebted grooves and the G-Funk synth-squeals of old, and we’re pretty sure that there’s plenty of talented emcees out there that would work well with this beat.
