For the latest installment of Essentials, we focus on Sydney alternative dance group RÜFÜS DU SOL, who have given sixteen different items to represent their unique penchants. Formed in 2010, RÜFÜS DU SOL consists of Jon George, Tyrone Lindqvist and James Hunt. Collectively they released their official debut project RÜFÜS EP in 2011, and since then, has been able to reach atop the Australian Albums Chart with their sophomore release, Atlas. In their Essentials, the Australian’s native affinities are arrayed in items such as a pair of Vans, a beanie and a backpack, which display their utilitarian preference for convenience. Unsurprisingly, items such as headphones, a MacBook and a keyboard are used as both work utilities and recreational toys.
The trio are currently on tour in North America, and will have a notable stopover at the Brooklyn Mirage in East Williamsburg, New York for the fifth annual Full Moon Fest. The event – which also includes performances by Yelle, Soulclap and more – will celebrate music in a lush urban jungle with both indoor and outdoor spaces amid a panoramic view of the Manhattan skyline. Take a look at their Essentials above, and purchase tickets to Full Moon Fest here. Also, music from RÜFÜS DU SOL can be heard on their SoundCloud here.
