Brian Mooney, a teacher at New Jersey’s High Tech High School, was inspired by Kendrick Lamar‘s critically-acclaimed sophomore album To Pimp A Butterfly so much that he paired the project into a course centered around Toni Morrison’s book, The Bluest Eye. After posting about the class online, thousands ended up sharing it and it caught the attention of the TPAB rapper himself. Yesterday, Kendrick visited the school to teach the students the importance of youth in the community and culture, and he also took some time to rap with them as well.
