Upon noticing similarities between the way in which Wes Anderson and Stanley Kubrick framed their shots, Steve Ramsden has solidified the hunch we have all carried for some time now in his latest short clip ”The Grand Overlook Hotel.” The parody trailer seamlessly blends iconic scenes from Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 cult classic The Shining with the satirical monologue of Ralph Fiennes from Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Both directors equally meticulous in their approach towards cinematography, it is clear to see a shared influence and stylistic preference as it becomes almost hard to believe that these two films were actually filmed over 30 years apart. Despite Jack Nicholson playing such a murderous and serious role, the narrative style of Wes Anderson’s direction along with a soundtrack completely suited to his work, the clip becomes humorous and completely unique in its context.
