As impatient fans awaited entry into Hot 97 Summer Jam, a riot erupted which resulted in the deployment of state police and their eventual use of teargas grenades. The event was hosted at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Fans were seen throwing bottles at the law enforcement authorities, who were readily equipped with riot gear. At least one New Jersey state trooper was injured during the small riot, with an undisclosed amount reported among the guests.
