‘47 and the Black Fives Foundation have launched an informative and educational magalog to accompany their debut collaborative collection of apparel, headwear and pennants. Each of the pioneering African-American basketball teams featured within the collection have their backstory explained and opened up to a new audience, whilst archive imagery shows the legends of the era in action alongside their teammates. Claude Johnson, founder and executive director of The Black Fives Foundation has his say, explaining that “through research, preservation, promotion and education, we share the stories and experiences of the pioneers and teams that paved the way for the players and the game as we know them today.” Find out more about the Monticello Athletic Association, the Philadelphia Panthers, Independent Pleasure Club and all the other Black Fives teams over at 47blackfives.com.
