Having collaborated with Europe’s top automakers in the past, custom coachmaker Zagato revisits its storied relationship with Maserati in the form of the Mostro, set to premiere at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Intended as a tribute to the 1957 Maserati 450 S Coupe Zagato, known as “il Mostro” for its monstrous front engine, the Mostro features an entirely carbon fiber body, mounted upon a carbon fiber monocoque coupled to a mid-structure of steel tubes. Much like the original 450 S, the Mostro boasts a central-front V8 Maserati engine for optimal weight distribution, which is connected to a rear-positioned semi-automatic gearbox with six-speed transmission. Although designed for the track, the Mostro will be ready for street use as well. Expected to clock in at around 460 hp, with no more than 10 units to be built after its premiere, stay tuned for the Mostro to be officially unveiled at Villa d’Este, which runs between May 23-24.
