The work of Todd James — also known by his pseudonym REAS — is characterized by vibrant colors that fill up his obscure, cartoon-style paintings. His latest showing, “Fantasy Island” at London’s Lazarides Gallery draws inspiration from the disorder occurring in Somali and other countries at war. Caricatures of armed soldiers and scantily-clad women are intertwined with AK-47 assault rifles, teacups and armchairs, presenting a perplexing repertoire nothing short of compelling. “Fantasy Island” runs until May 28, head to Lazarides for more information.
