Palace has built its name on a very specific type of representation. Not just hip-hop, but London’s brand of hip-hop; not just being a skaterat, but being a skaterat in Central London: weaving around tourists and over cobblestones, holding on to one’s bucket hat while cruising through the few good months of weather in England. It’s this type of specificity that defines Thames, the newish imprint from the infamous Wayward Boys Club. The brand, now in its second offering, is captained by none other than Blondey McCoy – a young Palace vagrant managing to burgeon not only his skate career as a Palace amateur, but also a design career to boot. Here we find the young creative drawing influence from punk culture in the purest English sense: think 1970s mowhawkers with mean surnames like “Hell” and “Vicious.” The logos and motifs are either hand-drawn or moody appropriations of corporate signage – a clever nod to the experience of growing up and losing a sense of innocence. Enjoy a look at the collection here then look for it to exclusively release May 9 at Dover Street Market Ginza, Supreme Los Angeles, Sydney’s Supply, Hip Store Leeds, Slugger in Sheffield, and of course the Palace store in London. Head here to read an interview with McCoy for further details on the brand.
