Coming just two weeks after we lost soul legend Percy Sledge, singer of “When A Man Loves A Woman,” another great, Ben E. King has also passed away. At 76 years old, the singer of famed, “Stand By Me” died at his New Jersey home after suffering a heart ailment.
King started his career as a member of the Drifters in the 50s with hits like Save The Last Dance For Me and There Goes My Baby. In 1961, then solo, Stand By Me made the Billboard top five and later made a return to the charts with the popularity of the 1986 movie also titled Stand By Me. You should probably go share a slow dance with your mom or dad one time in memory of Mr. Ben E. King.
