In commemoration of the Rapha Prestige Launceston which took place in March of this year, the premium cycling clothing and accessories brand has teamed up with Kintaro Studios to produce a short film titled “Sleeping Giants.” The video is a brief overview of the event’s 170 km distance as those taking part climb to the highest point of Tasmania’s only alpine region where conditions are grueling and unpredictable. Casting cycling great Michael Wilson as the film’s commentator and focal presence, Rapha helps pay homage to his legacy as the man himself describes a successful past as a professional athlete. Amongst this, the film does well to highlight the importance of teamwork as it depicts supportive gestures from all riders as they find their way through an unmarked route with little more than a navigational card to guide.
