Germany-based Baumraum has constructed a series of modern treehouses that offer an escape from the surrounding urban areas. Located in a tranquil setting, this experimental research project is located in the district of Zehlendorf which is southwest from Berlin’s city center, and preserves the existing tree population on the 650-square-meter site making it a perfect blend of contemporary and eco-friendly design. The treehouses’ walls, ceiling and floors are constructed out of five-layer spruce panels, while stability is provided by the aluminum composite panels and galvanized steel sections. Hovering at a height of about 4 meters, the individual units offer a comfortable 21 square meters of living space that is complete with a kitchen, sleeping quarters and washroom facilities, as well as storage and utilities space located at the base of the structure.
