We’d like to give a big shout out to Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar; his second major label release To Pimp a Butterfly has been officially confirmed gold. The critically acclaimed sophomore studio album has now sold over 519,000 copies, currently sitting at number seven on the charts. With all the buzz it’s been receiving, we’re not completely surprised. This year, he is the eighth artist to reach gold, a number that hasn’t happened since 2010. Why do you think this trend is occurring?
