Taking the Airbnb model and applying it to the world of high-tech gadgets, KitSplit is a New York-based company that allows production companies, studios and individual artists to lease out their unused equipment for short-term periods. With more than $1 million USD worth of gear readily available, users can coordinate the renting of drones, professional cameras, Google Glass headsets, Oculus Rift systems and more. Currently however, rentals are mostly limited to New York City, while users have to arrange pick-up and drop-off times themselves. While it is currently in beta and plans a public launch later in 2015, check out KitSplit.com for more information.
