Following his verbal and physical attack on a BBC producer and subsequent removal from Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson may be headed to Netflix. Clarkson’s tenure as host of Top Gear lasted for 13 years. His brash humorous personality helped the series reach 6.5 million viewers last season, and Netflix hopes for similar results, as they look to give Clarkson ”full control” over any show he creates with the on-demand streaming provider. Netflix, whose revenues are not contingent to advertising, is not concerned about Clarkson’s history of negative headlines and controversial antics. Although this is speculative, it would not be a surprising move seeing as Clarkson’s close Top Gear co-stars, James May and Richard Hammond, have hinted at leaving the broadcast, perhaps joining Clarkson’s potential Netflix endeavor.
