Animated 'TIE Fighter' Short Shows 'Star Wars' Battle From the Empire's Perspective

There are two sides to every story, and this is perhaps no better evident in pop culture than in Star Wars. Bringing the dark side to life, here UK-based artist Paul Johnson presents “TIE Fighter,” an epic animated ode to the Galactic Empire. Some four years in the making, this piece delivers seven minutes of action-packed glory, influenced visually by late 1980s anime and early 1990s video games. Although cameos from recognizable caricatures are apparent, the real details are in the closeup transparent glimpses Johnson provides to humanize each pilot – a subtle, but necessary touch.
