In celebration of the Superstar‘s street culture roots, adidas Originals hosted its second photography exhibition this past weekend in the SoHo district of NYC. The event featured iconic photographs from the past and present, commenting on the innovations of the shoe in the ’70s, the effect it had on the world of hip-hip in the ’80s, and its future in footwear. The images were provided by a collective of 12 artists — including Jamal Shabazz, Sue Kwon, Brock Fetch and Lawrence Watson. In addition, Shabazz made an appearance to speak about his personal documentation of New York City in the 1970s, recording its unique history in street, hip-hop and sneaker culture.
