Santigold Worked With iLoveMakonnen, Hit-Boy & More for '99¢'
Santigold breaks down her new album and shares a statement.
Earlier in the week, Santigold officially returned with the release of a new single and news of the followup to 2012’s Master of My Make-Believe. Now, she’s following up those headlines with a more expansive breakdown of her next album, 99¢. Coupled with an official statement from Santigold herself, the LP’s tracklist and its list of collaborators have been revealed. iLoveMakonnen, Hit-Boy, members of TV On The Radio, and Vampire Weekend and more were enlisted for the creation of 99¢. The album will offer 12 new tracks, with iLoveMakonnen and B.C. listed as its only featured guests. For her words on the record, Santigold had this to say:
“We have no illusion that we don’t live in this world where everything is packaged…People’s lives, persona, everything, is deliberate, and mediated. It can be dark and haunting and tricky, and freak us out, but it can be also be silly and fun and we can learn to play with it.”
