Meet Some of Japan's Most Obsessive Sneakerheads
“The most shoes brought in by one person was around 800 pairs.”
At Japan’s renowned sneaker resell destination, Skit, owner Katsushige Kamamoto recounts how a client had once arrived at the store with 800 pairs of sneakers to consign. Describing the sneaker culture of Japan, Kamamoto notes that the success of his store can be ascribed to the two problems that every sneakerhead has: that they buy sneakers even though they don’t wear them, and that they want to buy new shoes but have no money. Fueled by a vicious, constant supply of new and limited releases, the footwear industry is one that will not likely see a slowdown any time soon.
