Seven months ago, Sufjan Stevens released his acclaimed album Carrie & Lowell. Many fans were pleased that he returned to his folk roots following a few projects that were more electronic and experimental. Recently, however, he reveals that he hasn’t completely abandoned the sound yet, releasing a remix of album cut “Blue Bucket of Gold.” The rework does not take away from the original’s haunting elements; the echoing drums and mesmerizing synth-work adds to it.
