Renault Coupe Corbusier Concept
An automotive homage to the mid-century architect.
Renault unveils a commemorative concept car in honor of the five decades since the passing of seminal Modernist architect Le Corbusier, with the Renault Coupe Corbusier. While merely a “styling exercise” with no plans to go into production, the concept car seemingly takes design cues from the Batmobile with its dark and sleek exterior, exceptionally long hood, prominent front grille, and narrow glasshouse. Bulging arches give the car a noticeable musculature, while dihedral doors add extra flair. The Renault Coupe Corbusier is currently on display at the architect’s iconic Villa Savoye in Poissy, France, as part of the exhibition “Cars For Living: The Automobile and Modernism in the 20th & 21st Centuries.“
