Makoto Taniguchi‘s work has appeared in numerous museums and manga comics. The Tokyo-based artist (who graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts) is mostly known for creating stirring imagery of female characters, painting anime-like portraits using acrylic sheets and mirrors to create a reflection. Inspired by idolized girls in Japanese anime, the characters’ ethereal and vivid qualities make viewers feel that each are a living presence. Titled “you,” the art exhibition is Taniguchi’s first solo exhibition to be held at AISHONANZUKA in Hong Kong, and will run until November 7.
