This spring, for its latest collab, the UK’s hanon links up with Brooks for a peppery edition of the American footwear brand’s Chariot. Pointing to hanon’s own roots in the northeastern part of Scotland, the collaborative “Scotch Bonnet” features inspiration that’s two-fold — that of the Scotch Bonnet chili pepper, as well as the Tam o’ Shanter, which is the 19th-century nickname for the ubiquitous pom-pom-decorated cap traditionally worn by Scottish males. The result is a shoe dressed in super rich granite grey pigskin — the color of which reflects hanon’s home in Aberdeen — with fiery red accents and a green glove leather-lined collar. Additional details include a flecked side stripe and heel counter, reflective 3M applications to the heel, and a co-branded footbed and matching tongue tab while hanon’s own signature flame logo is embossed on the back of each shoe to round out the look.
Complete with custom dust bags, bespoke tissue paper, and three sets of laces and retaining the silhouette’s original three-part EVA sole unit and Diagonal Roll Bar (DBR) system, the “Scotch Bonnet” edition of the Brooks Chariot is set to hit hanon February 7 for £90 GBP (approximately $135 USD).
