Comedian Eddie Murphy has announced that he would be making a return to Saturday Night Live for their 40th anniversary. Upon question as to why he had never hosted an episode of the program, Murphy said to TV One’s News One Now, “It never worked out where the timing was right for me to do it. Actually, they are having a 40th anniversary, I think, in two weeks. I’m going to that. That will be the first time I have been back since I left.” Murphy was on SNL from 1980-84, alongside the likes of Robin Duke, Julia Louis-Drefus and Jim Belushi. While NBC has yet to announce the lineup of cast members for the three-hour 40th anniversary broadcast, Murphy’s appearance alone will sure be worth your while.
