Within the dense city of São Paolo at the renowned Paulicéia Building sits this renovation project by architecture firm JPG.ARQ. The building, designed in the ’50s by architects Jacques Pilon and Gian Carlo Gasperini and considered one of the most representative residential buildings of the city, plays host to the now clean and functional interior that saw the gutting of the space’s dividing walls, creating a unique open plan. The center piece of the apartment is a lengthy closet that serves as a multifunctional unit and the main partition throughout the apartment. Ingenious in its design, the unit stands as a bookshelf at the living room end, while serving as a cupboard and storage space for the kitchen, and as a closet for clothes in the bedroom portion of the space. Check out more of the practical design in the gallery above.
