To celebrate one of the most iconic fashion designers of our time, American toy company Mattel, Inc. commissioned a production run of Barbie dolls that pay homage to Karl Lagerfeld. Womenswear retailer NET-A-PORTER confirmed it had 999 dolls available for £135 each, which then sold out in a matter of hours, making a return of £134,865 (approximately $220,000 USD). If you missed out, you can now find the dolls on numerous auction sites such as eBay but with a heavily inflated price of at least $900 USD.
