Acclaimed producer Maya Jane Coles and British pop duo GAPS will be releasing their collaborative EP in just a couple weeks, and have made the project’s opening track available for streaming. “In Dark, In Day” is a delicate, dreamy electronic piece that maintains its connection to the dancefloor only through its shuffling percussion. The track almost resembles some sort of new-age, melancholic pop production. The vocals are fragile and seep emotion, and the addition of acoustic strings and wispy melodies probably wouldn’t have sounded out of place on an Enya track. With this new collaboration Maya Jane Coles continues to evolve her sound, and it’ll be interesting to see the complete direction the EP takes when it comes out on September 22. For now, you can listen to “In Dark, In Day” above.
