The MTV Video Music Awards are officially back. Taking place at The Forum in Ingelwood, California, the 31st annual show was kicked off by Ariana Grande, who opened the festivities with a double-header, performing “Break Free” featuring Zedd before inviting Nicki Minaj and Jessie J to perform their collaboration “Bang Bang.” Taylor Swift took over the stage responsibilities to perform her new single “Shake It Off” live for the first time ever before Nicki Minaj did the same and unleashed “Anaconda” for its stage premiere.
